Some Things to Do Today
pet a dog
practice crochet
bake some sourdough bread . . . or a pie . . . or a cake . . . or scones
make a cup of tea or coffee or warm water with lemon, and hold the mug in your hands, staring out the window like an Instagram poster
breathe
stretch some
go for a walk
check in on your text groups — the ones with your best people
call a friend; FaceTime if you can
lift some weights or do some squats; start leaning into your strength and power
breathe some more
hug your child
drink water
pet a cat if it will let you
have your own dance party
dabble in your version of art
cry, if you need to
find something that makes you laugh
breathe again, and maybe drink more water
do some chores
declutter a bit
take out the trash
email someone you care about for no reason, other than to say you care about them
take a bath or a long shower, if you have a hot tub, give it a visit
scream, if you need to
remember that wherever you are and however you are, you are loved, you matter, and you are not alone.
